The lands of Prothea are ruled by the Nightingale family. The head of the family is Jinx Nightingale, a changeling bard. Jinx left the lands of Prothea ten years ago to become a bard. This act saved his life as his evil uncle killed the rest of Jinx’s immediate family to ascend to the throne. Those ten long years Jinx wandered the rest of the world were the worst for the Protheans in living memory. Jinx’s uncle was cruel and vicious and thwarted any attempts to rebel. When Jinx heard that his homeland was in danger five years ago, he returned with a small group of people to take it back from his uncle and restore the honor of the Nightingale name. Jinx succeeded and has spent the past five years restoring Prothea to its honor. Shortly after Jinx arose to power, he encountered one of his first enemies a vampire cultist named Jaq Bloodwake. Jaq caused death and destruction wherever he went, much to Jinx’s exasperation. Strangely, after three months the original Jaq Bloodwake disappeared. Nobody knows what happened to him, and Jinx put the man out of his mind. He had bigger issues to worry about. A mysterious traveler with a book chained to him arrived at his door one day and warned him that an artifact he was using to travel great distances was going to tear Prothea and the rest of the world apart. It is also around this same time that Jinx came into contact with Nemo Ordo, a brilliant inventor and scientist. Nemo was involved in a lot of the technological advances of Prothea, including gun powder and flying machines.
