Dead Man's Waters

These waters aren't taken lightly in the continent of Oxinyth. Any ships to travel here are supposedly swallowed into the ocean and the ships that do return never come back with any form of life upon them.

Rough waters, hard rains and the inability to find North from South on any compass make it nearly impossible to go back in the direction from which you came. Some say there are monsters waiting to suck the soul from any sailor or pirate brave enough while other say creatures ten times the size of ships swallows you whole. No one knows how these myths came to be since no one knows any living being to come back alive.

In the middle of the marked location on every map is said to be very tall standing stones high enough to escape the water's wrath. These stones are completely isolated from the rest of the continent and any islands, protected by the storms and vortex waters as well as the dense, dark energy that clogs the air.

Cyclones of water take to the sky, nothing like your minor water waterspout, most ventures and scribes would call these maelstroms, said to be sent from the god of the sea himself or angry spirits powerful enough to lift the waters to the skies and swallow entire ships.

The spirits are far from friendly and it's no secret to all adventurers, they either have a simple wish for death or they are mad with desire to show their ability to survive the impossible.

Once knocked from your ship, the waters consume you and take you as one of its own. Taking your soul, dragging you to the bottom of its depths with ease. You find you have no energy to swim or strength to stay afloat, the will to live dwindles and the sky seems to sooth any darkened thoughts, you're at peace, sinking down into the abyss of Dead Man's Waters.

A stillness falls over the ocean, you can hear only a soft howl of the winds yet death is all you can smell. It's an eerie feeling of eyes perfectly set upon you, the prey. Next you know, you see a shark's fin, or what you would think to be one, this being when you see more, and more. A ring of teeth so massive in size, the creature they belong to had to be the size of an island. It long lifts far enough to reach the surface and as this creature sinks into the ocean, it swallows whole. Dropping everything it can into the spiral of churning teeth looking to devour all it could. Still to this day, no one knows what the whole creature looks like, only the teeth seen just before the kill.
